Porsche Classics at the Castle takes place on Sunday July 17th, 2011. This event, at Hedingham Castle, Essex, celebrates Porsche models built 1948-1973, and visitors from all over the world are expected.
Cars appearing include the prototype Design Type 64 Berlin-Rome car, courtesy of the Prototyp museum in Hamburg; the 907 'long-tail' coupe driven to victory at Daytona in 1968 by Vic Elford, and one of just two remaining; the 'Hawaiian Tropic' 935 Turbo driven by Paul Newman to a second place at Le Mans in 1979; the 'Martini' 911 Carrera RSR which won the 1973 Targa Florio; a 356A coupe raced by Jim Clark - and a line-up of over fifty right-hand drive 356s.
The gates open at 10am; there will be dedicated parking for pre-1974 Porsches, and another dedicated area for more modern Porsches, but drivers of other brands' vehicles are of course welcome. Tickets for a car plus two people cost £25, with additional passengers £5; children under 12 are admitted free. To find out more about the event, check out www.classicsatthecastle.com.
